Instructors: Cindy Durkee and Jeanne Flanagan
Cindy Durkee has a love of sewing that began as a child. She studied at Pratt Institute in New York City earning a BFA in Fashion Design. Years of work as a designer in the garment industry enhanced her knowledge of professional construction techniques, patternmaking and fitting, and sewing shortcuts. She has designed and produced clothing, theater costumes, large banner installations, commercial retail displays, décor items, as well as 3-D stuffed toys and dolls. She sees learning to sew as a handy life skill and a creative expression technique. Jeanne Flanagan grew up in a creative family that made everything from clothes to go-carts. Here at Makers Mill,
Jeanne wears several hats as the Leader of our Fiber/Crafts Arts Circle and as an instructor. Jeanne has been a makerspace instructor for many years in MA and has a wealth of knowledge about fiber arts. “Makers Mill nourishes that hands-on, inquiring mind and I am so happy to be teaching and learning at the makerspace where we can inspire people to create for themselves.”
